Paternity

Congratulations, you're a father!

While this is a joyous announcement for most, it can be a real awakening for some.  You now have responsibilities.  You must provide financial, emotional, mental and physical support to your child.

You also have the right to have an active role in raising your child.

Fatherhood is legally presumed if:

The child was born or conceived while he was married to the mother.

He legitimized the child through marriage to the mother.

He adopted the child.

Court proceedings established that he is the father.

An administrative order was issued based on genetic testing.

The father and mother officially acknowledged paternity.
